Obituary for Mildred LeGette (Le) Whitney
Mildred LeGette "Le" Whitney, 77, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away at her home Wednesday, December 30, 2015. She was born in Jackson, Tennessee to Sidney Wilber Stubbs and Mildred DeLorne Markey Stubbs on December 15, 1938. Early in her life the family moved to Sumter, South Carolina, where she grew up. She graduated from Columbia College, Columbia, South Carolina on July 28, 1967, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and from Florida State University on April 28, 1984, with a Masters Degree in Social Work. She was an avid tennis and bridge player and enjoyed researching genealogy. Her heart was in social work and she loved the arts. Le is survived by her three sons, Kinson Cook, Jr., Lamont (Johnnie) Cook, both of Tallahassee and Finley (Donna) Cook of Quincy, FL., her five grandsons, Jason Cook, Drew Cook, Austin Cook, Bailey Cook and Jordan Peeples, and a brother, Sidney Stubbs of Charleston, SC. She was predeceased by her parents. A Celebration of Life service and reception will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016, at 4:00 PM at The Lemoyne Center for Visual Arts, 125 N. Gadsden St., Tallahassee, FL., 32301. Memorial contributions may be made to The Lemoyne Visual Arts Center. Charles McClellan Funeral Home, 15 S.
