Obituary for Robin E. Watson

Robin (Emerson) Watson, 63, of Quincy, Florida passed away peacefully at UF Health in Gainesville, Florida on December 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. After a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer, causing significant respiratory challenges in her final days, she is finally at peace with the Lord.

Robin was born on August 12, 1962, in Gainesville, Florida, to Ronald “Ronnie” and Marsha (Hester) Emerson, while they were living in Alachua. After her parents moved from Alachua to Riverview, she spent most of her childhood developing a lifelong love for horses. Robin and her beloved horse, Cherokee, competed in speed events, earning many first place finishes in barrel racing, pole bending and flag racing. She also spent many summers on her grandparents’ farm outside of Alachua working in tobacco and remembered those times with great fondness. Her childhood was a vibrant mix of outdoor adventures and fierce competitions- from climbing trees, falling out of many, to hitting home runs and basketball hoops and coon hunting with her Dad, she was always looking for the next best experience. In her tenth grade, she returned to Alachua and attended Rolling Green Academy. She later moved to Quincy, FL where she completed her 11th grade year at Robert F Munroe and played basketball and softball for the Bobcats. For her senior year, she chose to return to Rolling Green Academy, where she proudly earned her high school diploma in 1980. She attended classes at Santa Fe Community College before deciding to move back to Quincy, where she soon met and married her beloved husband, Archibald “Archie” W. Watson, III. They met in 1984 and married in May of 1986.

In 1988, she began a life long career working as a Dental Assistant for her brother-in-law, Sterling L Watson, DDS and even continued with the practice after his passing in 2017, dedicating almost 35 years of compassionate service to their patients. Robin was known for her gentle touch, and extraordinary patience, ensuring even the most anxious patients felt comfortable and cared for. Her warm and witty personality shone through everyday and her commitment to educating families on proper dental hygiene leaves behind a legacy of healthy smiles and grateful patients, many of whom became lifelong friends.

Robin loved most to spend time with her family and her church community. She and her family attended the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church for many years, where she frequently volunteered taking care of the children and teaching Sunday school classes. Robin was a devoted wife of 39 years and a loving mother to her three children: Cody, Dustin and Megan, always supporting and encouraging them to achieve their life goals and reach their greatest potential. Robin found happiness and fulfillment in life by taking care of others. Her selfless nature granted her strength in teaching her family and community about the Lord’s salvation. She was diagnosed last September with metastatic breast cancer, and her journey was marked by incredible strength and resilience. Even as her breath grew shorter, she never faltered from her silly, lighthearted nature and unwavering faith. She inspired all who knew her, turning her fight into a powerful message of living each day to its fullest, considering each day with her family the Lord’s blessing.

Robin is survived by her husband, Archibald “Archie” Walter Watson, III; her children, Archibald “Cody” W. Watson, IV (Alicia) of Crawfordville, Dustin Emerson Watson (Brooke) of Montgomery, AL, and Megan Renee Watson of Lake City; her mother, Marsha Emerson of Alachua; brother, Greg Emerson (Susan) of Alachua; sister, Paula Webb of Gainesville; brother-in-laws, David Watson (Janice) and Brent Watson of Quincy; sister-in-laws, Rita Faulkner (Kevin) of Sarasota and Karen Watson of Quincy; nephews Dillon Webb and Andrea of Gainesville, Walter Watson and Hank Watson (Ceilia) of Cairo, GA, Lance Watson (Kelsey) of Tallahassee, and Jared Faulkner of Orlando; nieces Emily Presnell (Trey) of High Springs, Hannah Love (Reid) of Lake City, Sarah Webb of Gainesville, Chelsea Douglas (Todd) of Quincy, Savannah Richardson (Brad) of Jacksonville, Jenny Liabenow (Brandon) of Alexandria, VA, and Meredith Faulkner of Sarasota; grandchildren, Stetson and Lylah Kate; and a vast network of friends and family who will forever miss her beautiful spirit. She was a blessing to everyone, a beacon of joy and steadfast love, reminding us to find the humor and the Lord’s grace in every single day.

Robin was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Emerson, father-in-law, Archibald Walter Watson, Jr., mother-in-law, Mary Willie Watson, brother-in-laws Herbert Webb, III and Sterling Watson, nephews Justin Webb and Michael Guilford and niece Kalen Watson.

Visitation will be in the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church of Quincy at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Funeral services will be held on December 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will immediately follow at the Sunny Dell Cemetery in Gretna.
