Obituary for Charles Allen Poucher
Charles Allen Poucher, 72, of Juniper, Florida, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021, at his home.
Al is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lynne Layton Poucher; daughter, Amber LeAnne Rabon and spouse, Joshua D. Rudd; two grandsons, Thomas Johnathon “TJ” Rabon and Levi Rupert Rudd; mother, Mary Baker Poucher; and sister, Nancy Poucher Dearwater and spouse, Brian Dearwater.
Al was preceded in death by his father, William Charles Poucher; brother, Michael Leigh Poucher; father in law, Thomas Garner Layton; and mother in law, Paula VanLandingham Layton.
Al was born in Miami, FL on November 24, 1948. He grew up in Winter Haven, FL and attended Winter Haven High School. He then furthered his education by receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Florida. He retired after 20 years as a Superintendent/Professional Engineer for Southern Concrete Construction Company, Inc. where he enjoyed specializing in the construction, repair, and rehabilitation of bridges and other highway drainage structures. After retiring Al enjoyed life on the farm with his family. He especially loved working with his cattle and traveling all over Florida, Georgia, and Alabama showing them in numerous open shows. He took pride in building up the herd for his grandson, TJ, and they participated in various cattle shows throughout the years. He was looking forward to sharing his knowledge and love of cattle with his youngest grandson, Levi. Al was a member of several cattlemen organizations and served as treasurer in one of them for a time. He was also a lifetime member of the West Gadsden Historical Society.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 10 AM at Sycamore Cemetery, Sycamore, FL.
