Obituary for Dorothy Johnson
Dorothy N. Johnson, 92, native of Chattahoochee, Florida died peacefully at Blountstown Health & Rehabilitation Center, Thursday, March 30, 2017.
In 1942, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Johnson. After his return from military service, they resided in Quincy, Florida for several years before moving to their farm in Mt. Pleasant, Florida. Dorothy and Kenneth celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to his death in 1995.
All Dorothy’s married life, she embraced her role as a Christian homemaker, wife, and mother of two daughters. Later becoming a grandmother and great grandmother the circle of love was sealed and completed. She loved her church, Gretna Baptist, and was a faithful member.
She is predeceased by parents, Fred and Mable Benjamin, Dan Shepard, and brother, Earl W. Shepard.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Elaine Pinson (Bill) of Mt. Pleasant, Fl. Nancy Carol Potter (Eddie) of Chattahoochee, Fl. and three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile and blue eyes. Mother fought a good fight and is now at peace and at rest with her Lord.
The family expresses gratitude to the medical staff of Blountstown Nursing Rehabilitation and Dr. M. Faruqui for the excellent care given to our love one.
Visitation will be Friday, March 31, 2017, from 5:30 – 6:30 PM, at Charles McClellan Funeral Home, 15 South Jackson St., Quincy, FL, (627-7677). A family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Gretna Baptist Church, P.O Box 190,
Gretna, Fl. 32351.
