William Larry Benedict, born November 15, 1943, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Larry grew up in Clinton, KY. He joined the Navy in 1963, where he trained as a Field Medic and attended Dental school. He moved to Quincy in 1974, where he lived until he retired from his own private dental laboratory business.
Through social media, telephone, and texts, he kept up with his friends, both old and new.
Once Larry knew your birthday, he never forgot it, sending out hundreds of greetings year after year.
Larry loved gardening, photography, astronomy, and numerology.
With his eccentric, artistic, peaceful nature combined with his easy-going character, generosity, and humor, he connected with people. His aspiration to find harmony in beauty and balance was contagious. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Judith Policastro (Greg) and Rita Batts (Les), daughter, Amy Rushing, 3 grandsons, John Dylan Ketchum, Hunter Rushing, and Will Khayyat, several nieces and nephews and “two of the best sons-in-law a guy could have”, Jeff Rushing and Adnan Khayyat.
He was preceded in death by his son, Adam, and his daughter, Gina.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, on his birthday. Service time will be announced.
Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, Fl., is in charge of arrangements.
