Obituary for William "Billy" Frederick Stoutamire

January 28, 2026, William Frederick “Billy” Stoutamire, Sr. passed away surrounded by his children. He is survived by his daughter Stephanie Stoutamire Barrington and her husband Tony, son William Frederick “Rick” Stoutamire, Jr. and his wife Terri, and daughter Rebecca “Becky” Stoutamire Balentine and her husband Jeff; six Grandchildren: Evan Barrington and his wife Caroline, Eli Barrington and his wife Katelyn, Jake Barrett and his wife Riley, Hannah Stephens and her husband Jack, Olivia Stoutamire and her fiancé Rhett Hastings, and Sophia Stoutamire; four Great Grandchildren with two more on the way; his sister Doris Smith, a host of of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a whole crew of cousins.

Born on November 27, 1944, Billy was a lifelong resident of Blue Creek, Liberty County, FL. He worked in the insurance industry over 50 years, purchased McCaskill Insurance in Blountstown in the early 1970s, and eventually changed the name to Stoutamire Insurance. Billy, Don Stephens and Vic Griffin chartered the Dixie Youth Baseball League in Calhoun County. Billy also established the girls slow-pitch 18-under travel ball program, including a 5th place finish at the National tournament in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was an avid outdoorsman, a member of the Blountstown Rotary Club, and a lifelong member and officer of Iamonia Lake Hunting and Fishing Club.

Billy’s goal as a parent was to raise his children to possess honor and integrity, a strong work ethic, and a sense of respect for others. As “Granddaddy”, Billy traveled many miles following his grandchildren whether it was football, baseball, softball, volleyball, or an FFA banquet. His grandchildren were the apples of his eye and he never missed an opportunity for a road trip to attend a function.

Billy never met a stranger. He loved people, celebrated the accomplishments of others, championed the underdog, and devoted his life to his family. At the age of 72 he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was forever a changed man. There were very few Sunday mornings that Billy could not be found flipping pancakes at Corinth Baptist Church in Hosford.

A celebration and remembrance of life service will be at Corinth Baptist Church in Hosford, FL, on Monday, February 2, 2026, with Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. EST and the service following at 11:00. Interment at 1:30, Blue Creek Church, Old Blue Creek Road (County Rd 2224), Hosford, FL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue Creek Church, c/o Grace Methodist Church, P.O. Box 217, Hosford FL 32334.

Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, FL., 850-627-7677, is in charge of arrangements.
