Velma Dean Dickey Shepard passed away March 1, 2024, in Blountstown, Florida. She was born in Havana, Florida on June15, 1941, to William Thomas and Myrtie Mae Dickey.
She married James Ellis Shepard on November 23, 1962, in Bainbridge, Georgia. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and retired from the State of Florida.
Velma is survived by her children: son, Roger (wife Donna) Shepard of Greensboro, Florida; daughters, Laura (husband Steve) Shaffer of Sulpher Springs, Montana, Becky Shepard of Greensboro, Florida and Kari Shepard of Wasilla, Alaska; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas Buck (wife Joan) Dickey of Ozark, Alabama, a sister, Shirley Kirkland of Dothan, Alabama, and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Shepard Hindman of Greensboro, Florida.
The service will be Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Pine Grove Baptist Church with visitation at the church from 10:00 until service time. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery. Reverend William McKelvey will officiate.
