Obituary for Shirley Lawrence Keels
Shirley Lawrence Keels, 81, went to be with her Lord November 1, 2016 in Tallahassee, FL. She was born in Dellwood, FL, August 18, 1935 to Richard Carey and Della Rhodes Lawrence. She was the Salutatorian of her graduating class at Greenwood High School in 1953. She also attended Chipola Jr. College and followed her grandchildren in their sports – even in college. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Chattahoochee, and was retired, after 27 years, from the Medical Billing Department of Florida State Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Clyde F. Keels, daughter, Brenda (Mark) Allen of Chattahoochee, son, Frank Keels of Pensacola, FL, and two very special granddaughters, Amy (Jason) Senft and Kristen Allen of Chattahoochee. She is also survived by her sisters, Doris Irwin of Marianna, FL, Madge Byrd of Neely, MS, and Elyane Tyus of Dellwood, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Houston Rhodes, John Lawrence, Tom Lawrence, Dick Lawrence and Carey Lee Lawrence, and her sisters, Bessie Sellers, Eva Joe Curtiss, Edna Minter, Esther Johns and Troy Chudeuce.
Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 PM (EDT) at the First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee. Service will be Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
