Obituary for Sandra Peavy Harrison
Sandra Peavy Harrison, 72, of Havana, FL was born on August 10, 1943 in Bainbridge, GA to the late Magnus Delacy, Jr. (M.D.) and Virginia Skipper Peavy. Sandra passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in an automobile accident in Wakulla County, FL. Sandra was a beautiful lady both inside and out, with a sweet southern drawl and a loving spirit. She had a beautiful smile and a friendly hello for everyone she met. She was a 1962 graduate of Havana High School where she was a cheerleader and a volleyball player. After graduation, she attended Lively Cosmetology School and became a licensed beautician. Sandra's love to do hair led her to a successful career for 50 years. The first salon she owned was Havana Beauty Shop. She also worked at numerous nursing homes and retirement facilities where she met and built lifelong friendships with many beautiful ladies. In 1995, she and her daughter opened Heads Above Hair Salon in Havana. She officially retired in January of 2012. Sandra was a member of First Baptist Church in Havana, FL, and a honorary member of West Street Baptist Church in Bainbridge, GA where her son-in-law is the pastor. She is survived by her son, Rob Harrison, Tallahassee, FL, her daughter, Kelly Phillips (Mike), Whigham, GA; her 5 grandchildren, who she loved dearly, Tate (Casie), Kalli (KC), Noah, Abigayle, and Andrew Phillips; and her 2 precious great grandchildren, Gage and Daisy. Sandra is also survived by her brothers, Delacy Peavy (Lynda), Johnny Peavy, and Clayton Weaver (Lisa), sister, Linda Peavy Pickles, and sister-in-law, Gloria Peavy, all of Havana, FL., and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Tate Harrison on December 26, 1987, her parents, M.D. and Virginia Peavy, and the father of her children, Bobby Harrison. Services are scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2015, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 116 E. 6th Avenue, Havana, FL. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 116 E. 6th Avenue, Havana, FL, 32333 or West Street Baptist Church, 1511 S. West Street, Bainbridge, GA, 39819. Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, FL., (850) 627-7677, is in charge of arrangements.
