Obituary for Ruby Granger Strickland
Ruby Granger Strickland, 97, passed on October 4, 2023, in Tallahassee, FL. She was born to Curtis Lee Granger and Naomi Gertrude (Braswell) Granger on January 31, 1926, in Santa Rosa County, FL. She was married to the late Lester Strickland for 34 Years and predeceased her in 1991. She retired from JCPenney and enjoyed fishing and spending time with family at the lake after retirement. Ruby was a member of Ebenezer Leon Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Strickland (Strick); two sisters, Ouida Cloud and Dorothy Willette; one brother, Bill Granger; nephew, Flake Cloud Jr. and his wife Lillie Kay Cloud; and niece Melody Richardson.
She is survived by one stepdaughter, June Benson of Peachtree City, GA; nephew and caregiver, Michael (Joy) Cloud of Tallahassee, FL; nephews Randy (Penny) Willette of California; Don (Donna) Willette of Pennsylvania; nieces Celia (S.E.) Newberry of Quincy, FL; Lucy Ann Hundley of Virginia; Nancy Granger of Sneads, and Linda Bates of Grand Ridge and many great nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.
Friends and family will honor Ruby and pay their respects at a graveside service at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Dellwood, FL on October 7th at 3:00 EST. S.E. Newberry will officiate. In lieu of flowers she would appreciate donations to Big Bend Hospice or your local animal shelter.
