It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the peaceful passing of Ronald “Ronnie” Edward Lemieux, 83 of Sycamore, Florida on December 27, 2024. A devoted husband, father, uncle, and grandfather, Mr. Ronnie was a man whose life was defined by his unshakeable faith and his love for his family, the great outdoors, especially the quiet, peaceful waters where he found both solace and joy.
Born on April 18th 1941, in Sycamore, Florida Ronnie grew up with a deep connection to nature and a strong foundation in his Christian faith. His love of fishing began at an early age, with memories of early mornings on the water with family, friends, and later with his children and grandchildren. Whether it was casting a line into the river or lake fishing, Ronnie found in the simplicity of fishing a reflection of the peace and patience he believed God called him to cultivate in his daily life. He enjoyed camping at Lake Eufaula with his family while spending the days catching boxes full of fish.
As a devoted founder and long time member of Bethel Assembly of God, Ronnie served his faith in the community in various capacities, including a deacon, choir leader and member. Ronnie was a current member of Rock Bluff Assembly of God. His love for the Lord was evident in everything he did, and his faith was a source of strength and guidance throughout his life. Mr. Ronnie found great joy in reading scripture, participating in Bible study groups, singing in the choir, and attending services. He often said that when he was fishing, he felt closest to God, as the stillness of the water reminded him of the still, small voice of the Lord.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Lemieux, his son Ricky Edward Lemieux, one brother Jimmy Winston Lemieux, and great-granddaughter Ariel Adair.
Ronnie was a beloved family man, cherished by his wife of 64 years, Lavonia Lemieux, and their children, the late Ricky Edward Lemieux and wife Donna of Tallahassee, FL, James “Jim” Kenneth Lemieux and wife Barbara Lemieux of Sycamore, Karen and Jim Ward of Deatsville, Alabama. He was a proud grandfather to Ashley Jones and husband Jacob, Amber Adair and husband Eric, Aaron Lemieux and fiancé Amanda, Aubrie Clark and wife Kaleigh, Christy Worley and husband Kenny, Cal Chambers and wife Valerie, Bobbie Jo Chambers, Brandon Ward and wife Sarah, Sarah Perdue and husband Brandon, Kasey Chase and husband Jeff. Beloved uncle and second father to Daryl Lemieux and wife Tonya, Don Lemieux and wife April, Dan Lemieux, and Jerry Lemieux and wife Heather, 23 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren. His legacy will live on in the stories, lessons, and traditions he passed down through the generations. His kindness, generosity, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his love for family and faith, Ronnie was known for his warmth and compassion. He had a generous spirit, often offering his time and resources to help others. Whether volunteering at church events, supporting community causes, or simply offering a kind word or helping hand to a neighbor, Ronnie embodied the Christian principles of love, kindness, and service.
Services will be held at Rock Bluff Assembly of God, in Bristol, Florida on Monday, December 30, 2024 with the viewing from 1pm-2pm, service to follow beginning at 2pm. Burial Service will be Bethel Cemetery on Pine Grove Church Road. Following the service, the family welcomes friends and loved ones to join them with a meal service at Rock Bluff Assembly of God Fellowship Hall.
As we grieve the loss of this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, casting his line into the eternal waters, where he will fish no more but rest in God’s everlasting love.
“I will make you fishers of men.” – Matthew 4:19
