In Loving Memory of Ronald Desales Pounsberry September 24, 1959 – April 18, 2025
Ronald Desales Pounsberry, affectionately known as Ronnie, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2025, at the age of 65. His sudden departure has left his family deeply saddened and shocked. Born in Washington, DC, on September 24, 1959, Ronnie is survived by his devoted mother, Shirley Pounsberry; his brother Carl and sister-in-law Earth; and his beloved nephews Carl Jr. (Iris), Jesse (Nikki), and Cody, with whom he shared a profound and enduring bond. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald H. Pounsberry.
Ronnie spent his early years on a farm in Maryland, where his love for nature and the outdoors took root. Over the course of his life, he embraced many roles—working the bone box, farming, trapping, and living as a skilled outdoors-man. In 1989, he survived a devastating crash that left him in a coma for eight months, a testament to his resilience and strength.
Later, Ronnie made his home in Quincy, Florida, where he never met a stranger. He built a life rich with friendships, laughter, and unforgettable adventures. Whether traveling to the Gulf of America or camping across the country, Ronnie created lasting memories with those he loved. He was a trusted navigator on errands and a tireless helper in daily farm life, always ready to lend a hand.
Ronnie found joy in the simple pleasures—afternoons spent with Carl and Earth watching goats, penning cows, strumming air guitar, and indulging in cold beer cupcakes or ice cream treats. He cherished campfires with Carl, especially when paired with the finest oysters. His long walks—often spanning five to ten miles—connected him to his community, where he was known and loved by many.
A man of honesty, integrity, and boundless patience, Ronnie radiated positivity. He was always willing to help, reminding others that “it all comes back to us.” His legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and meaningful living. He taught us that our attitudes shape our lives and inspired those around him to lead with heart.
Ronnie will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
