Obituary for Robbie Cooper Vause

Robbie Cooper Vause was born May 17, 1928 in Quincy, Florida to Bertha Miller Cooper and Arthur L. Cooper.

Robbie grew up in Gadsden County and, following school, married Marvin Miller from Panama City. Though they later divorced. Together they had three children — Patricia Ann “Patsy” Miller, Marvin Edward “Buddy” Miller, and Joseph Daniel Miller.

Robbie took a job at Kittrell’s Restaurant with her best friend Velma Redd and eventually worked at Massey Drug Store. It wasn’t long before Roderick Vause, while sitting outside the fire station, caught sight of her strolling downtown with friends. Rod told his fellow firefighters, “I’m gonna marry that girl.” And he did.

Rod and Robbie wed on July 19,1960 in Bainbridge, Georgia. They built a beautiful life in Quincy and had three more children, Belinda Vause Smith, Ricky Vause and Lesa Vause. In 2014, after 54 years of love and marriage, Rod passed. From then until her death not a day went by she didn’t say how much she missed him. Together they shared 6 children, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and countless loving memories.

Robbie helped elderly members at the Church of Christ and regularly visited residents at the Gadsden County Nursing Home. She loved canning vegetables from Rod’s garden and made the best green oil pickles.

Tiny but mighty she had a lightening quick wit and the brightest blue eyes we’ve ever seen. We’re so grateful she was ours.

Robbie Cooper Vause is survived by four children, Patsy, Joe (Judy), Belinda, Lesa (Sherry Thompson), and her sister, Edwinna Watford Griffith. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Rod, son Buddy (Karen), son Ricky, mother, father, step-father JD Watford, brother Thomas Cooper and sister in law Myrtice Cooper.ch 25, 2023,

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the Washington Street Church of Christ in Quincy, FL  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy.
