Obituary for Richard Thomas Morris
Richard Thomas Morris, 99, of Quincy, Florida, died peacefully in his sleep on October 7, 2021. He was born in Quincy, June 12, 1922, to Clarence and Evelyn Morris; he was the second of four children. He was a graduate of South Norfolk High School (Virginia) class of 1939. He served in the United States Army as a Tech Sergeant (electrician) from November 1943 to January 1946 and was stationed in Southern Philippines and New Guinea. He married Mildred Inez Carman on August 23, 1946, and they were blessed with 74 years together. During his lifetime he held several electrician/refrigeration positions and retired from the Gadsden County School Board as head of the electrical and refrigeration departments in 1984. Richard was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Quincy. He is survived by two children, Richard Wayne Morris (Ruth) of Quincy and Brenda Morris McLeod (Greg) of Tallahassee, and one grandchild, Stephanie Lynn McKee (Steve) of Titusville.
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Big Bend Hospice.
