He was born in Quincy, Florida to Willam and Margaret (Peggy} Luten on October 23, 1945. Graduated from Quincy High School in 1964 and attended Chipola Jr. College. He joined the National Guard in 1965. Richard taught the Plumbers and Pipefitters apprentice class in the 1970’s. He retired from Johnson Controls as a project manager in 2004.
Since his retirement he has enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating with his children and grandchildren. He served as a Deacon at Lake Talquin Baptist Church.
He leaves his love to his wife Cindy Luten; brother William C. Luten, son Richard J. Luten, Jr, daughter Melissa Luten Harris and grandchildren Joseph, Kallie, Anelise, Camdyn, Madison and Sophie.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 10:00am at Lake Talquin Baptist Church with service at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Eastern Cemetery in Quincy, Florida.
