Obituary for Peter Gray Munroe
QUINCY - Peter Gray Munroe, died Friday, January 25 following a brief illness. He was born in Quincy, Florida, to William Bradley Munroe, Sr. and Francis Elizabeth Phillips Munroe on June 19, 1950. He lived in the Scotland area of Gadsden County and attended school in Quincy until his sophomore year at which time he enrolled and completed his high school education at Darlington School in Rome, Georgia. After graduating, he attended the University of Georgia and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He transferred to and graduated from the Florida State University School of Business where he earned a B.S. degree in accounting. He became a Certified Public Accountant and was a partner in Law, Redd, Crona, and Munroe, P.A. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Quincy. He took a great interest in scouting and became an Eagle Scout earning the distinction of Order of the Arrow. He served on the Board of Directors for the Saint Francis Wildlife Association, the Y.M.C.A, and Camp Indian Springs. He was a member of the Exchange Club, the Cotillion Club, and the Colonel’s Club. He is survived by his wife, Alice Jane Royster; his son Peter Gray Munroe, Jr. (Courtney); his grandson, William Parks Munroe; his mother; a brother William Bradley Munroe, Jr. (Suzanne); and a sister Fraser Munroe Smith (Lane); his step-daughters Karli Jane Flatt O’Neal (Eddie); Cassandra Marie Flatt Pulliza; several step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father; his sister Christopher Munroe Carnes (Bob); his brothers, Michael Phillips Munroe; and George Anthony Munroe, Sr.; his nephew Robert Theodore Carnes, Jr.; his step-father William Hugh Malone; and step-daughter Kristina Nicole Flatt. Graveside services will be held at the Munroe Family Plot at the Western Cemetery, on Key Street off King Street in Quincy on Wednesday, January 30th, at 11:15 a.m. Family and friends are invited to a reception at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church also in Quincy immediately following the graveside service.
