Obituary for Nellie Faye Burke
Telogia - Nellie Faye Burke, 95, went to Heaven on December 28, 2020. She was born on April 17, 1925 to Leon and Stella White and raised in Telogia where she lived with her husband and children until her death. There was an eleven year period, when her children were young, that she and her husband lived in Oregon as they found jobs to be more plentiful there. Nellie Faye was a homemaker while her children were young, but after moving back to Florida she did become a supervisor and retire from the Florida Department of Motor Vehicle, but will likely be remembered by most as the Manager of the Lunchroom at Hosford Elementary School for many years.

She loved all the little children of Hosford and Telogia and although it was hard work, she loved cooking breakfast and lunch in the Lunchroom. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Zion United Pentacostal Church in Hosford. She loved her church, family, and work.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Farris Burke and her grandson, Michael Burke, her brother, Paul White, and her sisters, Ellie Mae Kever, Opal Brown, and Edna Stanley.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Johnson and her sons, W.L. 'Bud' Burke and his wife, Delane and Eddie Joe Burke and his wife Martha. The grandchildren are Kim Tabah and her husband Ted; Marc Burke and his wife Teresa, and Macky Burke. The great-grandchildren are Preston Burke with his wife Natalie, Tommy Hatcher with his girlfriend Anna Nunamaker, Sara Burke, and Owen Tabah. Her great-great-granddaughter is Preslie Burke. In addition, she is survived by a sister, Dorothy Joyce, and a brother, Bill White

A celebration of her homecoming and interment is being held in Hosford at Sanders Cemetery on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 4:00 PM. A special word of thanks is extended to all family members and Big Bend Hospice for their dedication and support. In lieu of flowers, the family are asking for donations to Big Bend Hospice in memory of Nellie Faye Burke.

Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, Florida, is in charge of arrangements.
