Obituary for Myers O. Hand

We announce with great sadness the passing of Myers O. Hand on September 4, 2022. Myers was a beloved husband, father and friend. Despite humble beginnings, Myers’ passion for competition, intellectual curiosity and strong work ethic allowed him to rise to the heights of corporate America. Building on that success and all the lessons learned, in 1988 Myers purchased and was the CEO of McMinnville Tool & Die, Inc. His proudest professional accomplishments were the jobs he created, the customers he served and the families he supported while running MTD for the last 34 years.

Myers was a generous and thoughtful man who deeply cared for others, offering his time, advice and treasure to those who needed it. He loved his childhood sweetheart deeply. He supported and took great pride in his children and their families. Myers was also a devoted friend who managed to stay close with childhood friends despite the many corporate moves that took him away from his home state of Florida. And, while he took great pride in his many professional accomplishments and his family and friends, he also invested in the success of others. As one of his long time employees said, “Myers truly had a heart of gold and got true enjoyment out of seeing someone he had helped succeed.”

Myers is survived by his true love and wife of 60 years, Minora Galbraith Hand, his three children; Lauren (& Neil) Patten, Matthew (& Rachel) Hand, and Hilary (& Scott) Hill: his seven grandchildren; Haley Cly, Madeline Matheus, Michael Patten, Claire Patten, Elizabeth Patten, Jacob Hill and Sophie Hill: and, his four great-grandchildren; Camilla Cly, Rhett Cly , Sloane Cly and Maxwell Matheus.

Following a private burial, there will be a visitation with family from 2-3 pm on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Charles McClellan Funeral Home, 15. South Jackson St., Quincy, FL. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association.
