Our beloved Micah Paul Sofge, age 41, passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2023.
Micah was born in Italy and grew up at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville NC and then in Tallahassee FL. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 2000. He served in the Florida Army National Guard with Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion, 124th Infantry from 2003 to 2004 experiencing action during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He was a skillful mechanic working in Tallahassee at Sears Auto Center, Honda dealership, and the United States Postal Service in Vehicle Maintenance. He also received a Culinary Arts degree from Keiser University Center for Culinary Arts. He used his training at Paradise Grill and for family and friends.
Micah married Christi McKeown in 2017 but they had met before they were born. Their mothers were pregnant at the same time while based at a U. S. military installation in Italy. Three of the parents had known each other for years, having grown up in the same small town, and just happened to be posted at the same location while serving overseas. The tight-knit community, and prior friendship, provided Micah and Christi with their initial introduction to each other.
Micah had a range of diverse interests. He enjoyed car racing, go-kart racing, reptiles, and his tropical fish tanks.
Micah is survived by his loving wife Christi Sofge and daughter Leia, parents Steve and Lek Sofge, sister Samantha Sofge, nephew and nieces Brenton, Emiliana, Isla, Kalina, and Lola, grandparents Arthur and Som Billue, aunts Elaine Foshee, Judy (Phil) Gornicki, Dee (Ralph) Smith, uncle Robert (Donna) Sofge, and father and mother-in-law George and Diane McKeown.
He was proceeded in death by his grandparents Robert and Nancy Sofge.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, November 18, 2023,at 1:00 PM, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 6412 Blue Star Memorial Highway (Hwy 90), Chattahoochee, FL.
