Maysel Ellen Weeks, age 85, a faithful servant of the Lord, loving mother, and longtime resident of Gadsden County, passed peacefully into eternal rest on June 30, 2025.
Born in Gadsden County, Florida on June 1, 1940, Maysel lived a life marked by humility, devotion, and quiet strength. As a member of the Assemblies of God faith, she walked closely with God throughout her life, finding her joy in prayer, worship, and the promises of Scripture. Her faith was not only her foundation—it was her legacy.
Maysel was widowed early in life and courageously raised her two beloved children on her own. Though she lived on meager means, she never complained. Her home was filled with love, laughter, and the soothing sound of gospel hymns. She gave generously from what little she had and modeled the virtues of contentment, kindness, and perseverance.
For many years, Maysel served faithfully as an educational paraprofessional with the Gadsden County School Board. In classrooms and hallways, she became a steady and nurturing presence to generations of students. She believed in the value of every child and brought patience, warmth, and unwavering encouragement to those she worked with.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Crawford Weeks; her parents, Henry Jackson Rudd and Ellen Calvin Money Rudd; and her siblings: brothers C.B. Rudd, Eddie Rudd, and Homer Rudd, and sisters Katherine Cross, Mattie Phillips, Elizabeth Johnson, and a very special sister Carolyn Abney.
She is survived by a son, Dale Weeks (Dawn), and a daughter, Mary Ellen Melvin (Dexter); two grandchildren, Tyler Easom (Ashley) and Hunter Weeks; and four great-grandchildren, Emory Easom, Palmer Easom, Walker Easom, and Landry Weeks. She is also survived by one remaining sibling, Verna Longendyke. Maysel leaves behind She leaves behind a host of family, church members, former students, and friends who were blessed by her presence.
A celebration of her life will be held July 3, 2025, at 10:00 am, at Hillcrest Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to honor a life lived with faith and love.
Though her earthly possessions were few, Maysel leaves behind a rich legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love. As Scripture says in Matthew 25:23, “Well done, good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
