Obituary for Mary Sue Bass Green
Mary Sue Bass Green passed away, at the age of 98, on Monday, September 9, 2019, after living a long life filled with lots of love. She was born in Chipley, FL on May 18, 1921, the daughter of Dallas Doolin Bass and Linessa Jane Murfee. She married Richard “Dick” L. Green, Jr. on June 28, 1945 in Chipley, FL. Together they ran the Greensboro post office as Postmaster and Postal Clerk until retirement. Sue was affectionately known as “Mama Sue” due to her loving tendencies with everyone.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Green, Jr. and her siblings; Phala Bass Teal, Lottie Bob Bass Smith, James Bass, Katherine Mae Bass, and Dallas Doolin “D.D.” Bass.
She is survived by her son, Richard “Rick” L. Green, III (Debbie); daughter, Judy L. Green; grandson, Richard L. Green, IV (Lynn) and two great-grandchildren; Rhett L. Green and Sawyer J. Green.
Her step-grandchildren include Lee Wiley (Tracey), Christopher Dalton (Aly), Patrick Dalton (Spencer) and six great-grandchildren: Austin & Eve Wiley; Chase, Rolen, & Brody Dalton; and Caroline Dalton.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Greensboro on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11am. Services will be at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Gadsden Historical Society and Big Bend Hospice.
