Obituary for Mary Middleton Suber
Mary Middleton Suber died early Thursday morning, September 30, 2021. Born August 1, 1942, in Panama City, FL she was the daughter of the late William Edward Middleton and Mae Vickery Middleton.
Mary grew up in Quincy, FL and graduated from Quincy High School. She attended Converse College in Spartanburg, SC and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Education. She was also a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Following graduation, Mary was a librarian and schoolteacher. Eventually, she made a career change and went to work for the U.S. Postal Service. She served several different roles: rural mail carrier, clerk, and ultimately became the Postmistress of the Greensboro, FL Post Office.
Mary had a voracious appetite for reading books and novels, often reading two to three per week. She loved spending time in Apalachicola with friends and family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Quincy, FL.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a great friend to all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mae Middleton and her sister Susan M. Hinson. Susan and Mary were the ultimate gracious hosts: whether it was cooking and catering parties or teaching and nurturing young children or caring for those who were less fortunate; their love and caring attitudes were infectious.
Surviving is her husband, John Suber; sons Jack Suber and wife Elayne of Tampa; Will Suber; and Morris Suber and his wife Andrea of Havana; four grandchildren, Jackson and Mac Suber; Harlyn and Hitson Suber.
The family would also like to thank Linda Beach for her loving and devoted care that she provided. We would also like thank Joyce Jenkins from Visiting Angels for her care and assistance. Additionally, the family also thanks Jane Hinson for her devoted help and enduring friendship.
A graveside service will be held October 4, 2021 at 10:00 am at Hillcrest Cemetery, Quincy, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Bend Hospice or First Presbyterian Church of Quincy, FL.
