Obituary for Mary Caroline Shaw McMillan
Mary Caroline Shaw McMillan, 88, of Quincy Fl., passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018.
Born June 15, 1930, in Quncy, Fl., she was the daughter of the late R. K. and Elizabeth “Dibby” Bostick Shaw and wife of 43 years to the late Norman McMillan.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Elizabeth “M.E.” Hyder, wife of the late Bill Hyder of Quincy, two sons; Bill McMillan and his wife Sabrina of Quincy, and Stuart McMillan and his wife Terri of Chandler, Texas; along with 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mary received a call, or an offer that can’t be refused, so to speak. The offer comes with a significant signing bonus including; a reunion with longtime family and friends that she hasn’t seen for a while, travel to a wonderful destination where she can tend her flower garden and needlepoint to her heart’s content, the food is always delicious, and you never gain an ounce! Not surprisingly, she left firm instructions for her family to “be joyful and enjoy a celebration of life”. It goes without saying that failure to comply with the above will not be tolerated (Norman is looking down, rolling his eyes). Her last order was “be sure to call Stuart” (she was always worried about her baby boy).
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy with Father John Wesley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, Fl. 32308
Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, FL, 850-627-7677, is in charge of arrangements.
