Obituary for Marvin "Pete" L. Perkins
Marvin Leroy “Pete” Perkins, 90, of Quincy, FL, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Pete was born on August 13, 1931 in Jacksonville, FL. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Hilda Warren Perkins of 69 years on August 21, 2021. He is survived by his son Michael Perkins (wife Beth); daughter Donna Sirmons (husband Don); daughter Brenda Strickland (husband Ken); grandchildren: Noah Perkins, Karleebeth Perkins, Thomas Sirmons (wife Ashley), and Kaitlyn Purdy (husband Davis) and 3 great granddaughters: Rylan, Jemma & Dakota. Pete served in the Florida National Guard. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church, Quincy where he always lovingly and willingly served wherever needed. Pete worked in shade tobacco until it was phased out in Gadsden County and then was the Grain Manager for Goldkist. In his retirement years, he enjoyed working and transporting vehicles at the Tallahassee Auto Auction. Pete always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. He loved fishing, traveling with family and friends, growing roses and maintaining a showcase yard, decorating for all seasons and holidays for everyone to enjoy. He loved sports, especially watching his children and grandchildren play. Pete was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, Quincy on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church, Quincy. COVID-19 pandemic precautions will be observed. Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, FL., 850-627-7677, is in charge of arrangements.
