Obituary for Marilynn Shanks Higdon
Marilynn Shanks Higdon, 76, of Quincy, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on May 31, 2016. She was born November 30, 1939, to James A. and May Virginia Malone Shanks in Quincy. She was a very dedicated and active member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, E. Cantey Higdon, her children, Laura (Drew) Bostick, Debbie (James) Whiddon, and E. Cantey Higdon, Jr. She is also survived by her sister, Ginger Shanks, her grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Whiddon, and Caroline Higdon, and brothers-in-law, John (Emily) Higdon and Victor Higdon. She was predeceased by her parents.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to her caregivers, Dorothy Smoak and Dot West, and all the caregivers at Hopewell and Big Bend Hospice.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery, Quincy, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 206 N. Madison St., Quincy, FL., 32351, Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL., 32308, The Alzheimeres Project, 301 E. Tharpe St., Tallahassee, FL., 32303, or a charity of your choice.
