With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lois Dalton, of Hardaway, Florida, who peacefully entered eternal rest on January 19, 2025, after a courageous 15-year battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Lois was born in Geneva, Alabama, and raised in the community of Sycamore in Greensboro, Florida. At 17, she married the love of her life, Rolen Dalton, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. They had three children.
Lois retired after 35 years of dedicated service at Florida State Hospital. A devout member of Rock Bluff Assembly of God, she served as a Sunday school teacher, church secretary, and treasurer, and was known lovingly as "Sister Lois" by many. Her faith was the foundation of her life.
Travel was a passion for Lois, and she explored many parts of the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, and traveled internationally to destinations such as China, Australia, Ireland, Scotland, and Jerusalem. But above all, she cherished her family.
Lois is survived by her three children: Jeffery (Suebrina) Dalton, Barbara (Ken) Sauls, and Janet (Dwight) Callahan; six grandchildren: Christopher (Aly) Dalton, Ashley (Austin) Myers, Eric (Tristan) Sauls, Patrick (Spencer) Dalton, Ryan (Stacie) Callahan, and Megan (Brandon) Figueredo; and 13 great-grandchildren: Caroline and Crew Dalton; Arya, Amelia, and Adaline Myers; Remi Grace, River, and Elsie Claire Sauls; Chase, Rolen, Brody, and Reese Dalton; Dalton Callahan; and Baby Figueredo on the way. She is also survived by her sisters, Judy Joyner and Louise (Troy) Neel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Bessie Taylor; six brothers; two sisters; and her husband, Rolen Dalton.
A service to celebrate Lois's life will be held at Rock Bluff Assembly of God on January 26,2025 at 2:00 viewing 2:30 service, with burial to follow immediately at Rock Bluff Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
We are grateful for the wonderful care provided by Dr. Judith Lewis and the staff at Canterfield of Tallahassee, Memory Care, over the past six years.
Donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice in her honor.
Lois will forever be remembered as the best wife, mother, Meme, Granny, sister, aunt, and friend. Her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
