Obituary for Karen Derby Reif
Karen Derby Reif, 73, of Groton, Massachusetts, died Sunday, August 22, 2021 in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton.
She was born on Camp Lejeune, NC on June12, 1948, a daughter of the late William McKinley and Erin Johnson Derby.
She graduated from Acton-Boxborough High School in 1966 and attended Texas Women's University before earning her associates degree from Framingham State College.
Karen worked as a transportation manager at Murray Printing in Westford and held the same capacity at New England Business Service in Groton prior to that.
She was an avid reader, photographer and enjoyed traveling both at home and abroad. She did extensive genealogy research on her family and was active in the "Train the Trainer" program of the Boy Scouts of America. An amateur radio operator, she was a member of the Nashoba Valley Amateur Radio Club and devoted much of her efforts to Emergency Radio Communications. In her younger years she enjoyed riding and training horses. She loved animals of all kinds.
Karen leaves her husband of 54 years, Robert H. Reif, Sr., of Groton, two sons, Robert H. Reif, Jr of Anchorage, AK, and Stephen F. Reif and his wife Nicole of Buckley, WA, and a sister, Peggy Derby of Burlington, VT.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Sycamore Cemetery in Sycamore, Gadsden County, FL.
