Obituary for John Allen Smith, Jr
John Allen Smith, Jr, of Hardaway Community, passed away at home July 20, 2016. He was born in Quincy, FL. on March 8, 1956 to John Allen and Pauline Flake Smith. He graduated from Greensboro High School, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and the University of Florida. He was a 1974 FFA State Star Farmer, and recipient of many National Livestock and Crop Awards. He was the Research Coordinator of the IFAS Center, University of FL., in Quincy. He was an avid hunter, having been a member of the Blue Hammock Hunting Club, and currently a member of Soapstone Hunting Club. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and an Elder and former Deacon.
Visitation will be today, Friday, July 22, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. The service will be Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, his wife, Sandra Clark Smith and son John Allen Smith, III of Hardaway, sisters, Martha Lee Bohannon (Hubert) of Havana, FL., and Allene Dupont (Hewitt) of Atlanta, GA., and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Polly Bohannon of Tallahassee, FL.
He was predeceased by his father.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, or the West Florida Livestock Association.
