Obituary for Jerry Tillman Boatwright
Jerry Tillman Boatwright
July 21, 1955 - May 19, 2020
Mr. Jerry Tillman Boatwright, 64, was born in Apalachicola, Florida on July 21, 1955 to James Tillman (JT) and Velma Boatwright. He went to be with the Lord on May 19th, 2020 with his loving wife, Laura Jean Tucker Boatwright by his side.
Jerry and Laura were married June 6, 1986 in Apalachicola, Florida. They were inseparable for 34 years happy years!
Jerry started his career in Eastpoint, Florida working on the Apalachicola Bay. During this time Jerry worked in the Seafood Industry in Franklin County crabbing and doing a little oystering at times. Jerry spent most of his life working on the Apalachicola Bay until 2002 when he decided to start a different a career with Apalachicola Forest Youth Camp, in Wilma Fl. After several years of working with the youth camp, Jerry left and started a new journey with the St. George Island Plantation Security as a Security Officer. This was Jerry's favorite job of his life and he continued this Job for Approximately 8 years until he became disabled to continue.
Jerry's true love was woodwork. Jerry would build dog boxes for local hunters, or anything he could come up with to build in his spare time. Jerry also would help repair or rebuild boats, sterns or just lend a helping hand with outboard motor mechanics. Later in Jerry's life, Jerry was touched by the Lord Jesus Christ and his passion for woodwork led Jerry on a different path. With his heart full, he felt the need to help in ways that would touch another person’s heart. Jerry began making Crosses, the Crosses started small and he would give them out to family members and friends. Family and friends accepted this as a beautiful treasure that was indeed built to perfection! As the extreme passion for hand carving the crosses grew, Jerry started bringing the crosses to his wife's church to give to kids for Christmas, along with his Doctors offices for the nurses and staff. Sometimes Jerry would get the feeling,or news that someone having a hard time, needed support are just needing something to remind them of our Lord Jesus Christ, Jerry would track them down and give one of his beautiful treasures to them. (The Cross)
Jerry is Survived by his loving wife, Laura Jean Tucker Boatwright, Two Children (Son) Shawn Tillman Boatwright, (Daughter) Hannah Lillian Boatwright, Two Grand Children, Colby Tillman Boatwright and Rileigh Renee Boatwright.
