Obituary for James Murrow Rackley, Sr
James Murrow Rackley, Sr., 88, of Tallahassee, FL., passed away October 16, 2017. Jim was born July 4, 1929, in Thomasville, GA to the late Dr. and Mrs. H. P. Rackley.
He attended the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech. He was a fighter pilot and was in the Ferrying Command of the USAF. He received several medals while in the service, which included the Korean Service, United Nations Service, and the National Defense. After retirement, he worked for the U. S. Government and was a local contractor. Jim was an avid fisherman and golfer.
Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anne; son, James, Jr. and wife Lisa; son, Chris and wife Tammy; daughter-in-law, Sheri, grandsons, Alex and Caden; step-grandsons, Preston Burke and wife Natalie, and Trace Gainey; sister and brother-in-law, June and Asa Candler of Atlanta, GA; nephews, Asa, Dick, and Bill Candler, and niece, Joy Allen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Overton, and his youngest son, Sam.
At Jim’s request, there will not be any formal services.
