Obituary for James Mulder Brown

James Mulder Brown was born July 4, 1935 in Greensboro, Florida to Samuel Mulder Brown and Annie Cooper Cutts Brown. He graduated from Greensboro High, Class of 1953 and later attended Florida State University for a time and was always a devoted fan. He began his career at the Floridin Mine in Quincy, Florida, but then made the decision to go in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he served with the Hurricane Hunters at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. Once he returned from the Navy, he opened and operated his own business repairing televisions and radios in Greensboro. After several years he closed his business and went to work with Department of Transportation for the State of Florida in Tallahassee, where he worked until his retirement. In 1976, he married the love of his life, Evelyn Holton. They moved to Tallahassee where they lived happily married until her death in February of 2023.


Mulder was preceded in death by his wife Beulah Evelyn Holton Brown, parents Samuel Mulder Brown and Annie Cooper Cutts Brown, siblings Susie Brown Chason, Robert Brown, Cecil Brown, Emily Ellen Cutts Martin Johnson, and Lucile Cutts Barton Rodgers. He is survived by his daughter Marie Miller, son James (Jim) Mulder Brown Jr. and his wife Katie Brown. Five grandchildren Brooke Davis (Billy Woodbery), Caitlin Lee (Ricardo Padilla), Georgia, Sam and Olivia Brown. Seven great grandchildren Potter, Asher, Linkin, Sophia, Liam, Benjamin and Daisy-Grace, Sister Ruth Brown Sansom, now living at Magnolia Place in Cairo, Georgia and niece Anne Sansom of Bainbridge, Georgia.


Services will be graveside at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19th, 2023 at Sycamore Cemetery in Greensboro, Florida. 3246 Sycamore Rd. Gadsden County, Florida. Charles McClellan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation with the family will be 30 minutes prior and 30 minutes after the service.
