Obituary for Jackie "Rooster" Franklin McQuaig
Jackie Franklin (Rooster) McQuaig passed away peacefully on June 28th, 2021 at his home in Tallahassee, Florida surrounded by his family.
Jackie was born in Bainbridge, Georgia July 1, 1943 to William and Essie McQuaig. He married his sweetheart Gail Lowe McQuaig on July 5th 1963. Jackie was retired from the State of Florida, Department of Corrections.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his yard. Jackie was known for being a jokester and enjoyed telling his tall tales.
He was a member of Lake Talquin Baptist Church. Jackie was preceded in death by his daughter Teresa Ann McQuaig, parents William and Essie McQuaig, brothers Ralph, John A., Eugene, Murray, Robert, Billy and Randall, sisters Lois Bowen, Margie Morris and Rena Ferros.
He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years Gail Lowe McQuaig, daughter Lisa Griner (Jim), grandson Tyler Griner (Samantha), granddaughter Leann Bennett (Tyler), great grandson ( Beau Bennett), sister Ann Fulford ( Jim), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Lake Talquin Baptist Church with visitation at 10:00 AM and services at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Smyrna Cemetery, Chattahoochee, FL.
In Jackie’s memory donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL., 32308.
