Irene Theresa Levy,75, died in Tampa, Florida on March 17, 2026. She was born in Gainesville, Florida on July 21, 1950, to Dr. Sidney Walter Levy and Rose May Levy. They lived in Trenton where her father had established and operated a small clinic/hospital. Later the family moved to Quincy, Florida. When Irene was a teenager her mother and siblings moved to Tampa. Irene spent most of the rest life on Davis Island.
Irene attended Florida State University and majored in fashion design in the late sixties. Irene had a real passion for the creative arts. As a young adult, Irene took classes in both painting and floral design and excelled at both. Irene worked for years as a floral designer and as the manager of the floral department at a large local Publix.
Irene was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. She was an active member of several Christian fellowships in the Tampa area most recently Bayside Community Church. She participated and loved many of her Bible classes and study groups. Irene felt a real calling to elder care ministry. After her retirement, she devoted countless hours to meals on wheels and volunteering in a local nursing facility.
Irene was also known for her love of animals. She adored her cats and frequently rescued abandoned ones.
Irene was predeceased by her parents, her sister Rachel Kennington, and her brother Edward A. Levy. She is survived by her two nephews Sidney W Levy of Atlanta and Dr. Edward Macdonald Levy of Vestavia, Alabama and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 31th at 3:00 pm at the Old Philadelphia church Cemetery in Quincy.
