Obituary for Franklin Lee Allen

Franklin “Frank” Lee Allen, a man of unwavering faith and a heart full of love, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on March 16, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Frank and Esther Allen (née Loll), Frank's life was a testament to his strong character, steadfast faith, and dedication to family. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Violet McClellan, Shirley Isaac, and Lavonia Bajalia. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife Janie “Carol” Allen (née Creel) after 59 years of marriage. He is also survived by his son Jason Lee Allen, his daughter Ramona “Alison” Salyer (née Allen), his grandson Cade Salyer, as well as several nephews and nieces.

Frank was a model of tenacity and persistence, taking initiative and working diligently to achieve his goals. Even as a young boy, Frank exhibited an entrepreneurial spirit, mowing lawns and selling newspapers to earn money. His love for the outdoors was evident from a young age, as he spent many summers on his aunt and uncle’s farm near White Springs, Florida.

After graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry in 1972, he and Carol made their home in Marianna, Florida, where they raised their children. It was there that Frank established and ran a prosperous forestry consulting business for many years.

Before his career in forestry, Frank served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for three years as a missile tracking radar specialist, attaining the rank of Specialist 5th Class. His military service took him to Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, Seoul, South Korea, and White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Rifle Marksman Commendation, and Good Conduct Medal.

Frank's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Marianna and later Christ Alliance Church in Marianna. His passion for sharing his faith was evident in his role as a Royal Ambassador leader and deacon. He dedicated time to going door to door to tell people in his community about the love of Jesus.

After relocating to Havana, Florida, Frank worked as a Lease Administrator for the Florida Department of Corrections in Tallahassee. In keeping with his lifelong conviction for spreading the Gospel, he led a weekly Bible study at Quincy Correctional Institute for several years. He and Carol joined the First Baptist Church of Havana.

Frank’s family and friends were charmed by his infectious laughter and love for storytelling, and they were inspired by his strong work ethic. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his family and took great joy in spending time with them. He especially loved taking his wife and children on trips to the mountains, where he could share with them his love of the outdoors. His dedication to his family was unwavering, and he often expressed his love through both words and deeds. He was a man of strong principles and values, and he instilled these same values in his children.

Frank's legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched. He will be remembered for his unshakeable faith, his wit and humor, and his love for his family.
