Obituary for Frances McClellan Rogers
Frances McClellan Rogers, 86, of Quincy, Florida, passed away at her home Saturday, August 6, 2016, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James W. “Bill” Rogers, son, Kirby M. Rogers, and grandson, Adam Rogers. Frances is survived by her son, James Rogers (Irina and step-granddaughter Alesya) of Quincy, granddaughter, Dianna N. Irwin (Pat) of Tallahassee, two great grandchildren, Dakota and Tucker Irwin, and two brothers, Brady (Frances) McClellan and Perry Lee (Carolyn) McClellan , many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a devoted friend, Art Mamott.
Frances was born in Blountstown, FL and graduated from Blountstown High School. She later attended Florida State University where she graduated with a Bachelor in Science degree. Frances and Bill fell in love and married in 1952. In the late 1950’s they assumed ownership of the Quincy Lumber Company and ran it successfully until both retired in the mid 1980’s.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 10, 2016, in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Quincy followed by the service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Marzuq Shrine Temple of Tallahassee or the Tallahassee Moose Lodge.
