Evelyn Virginia Johnson Herrin
Evelyn J. Herrin, 96, a beloved retired Home Economics and Chemistry Teacher, died September 30, 2023 at her home surrounded by her friends and family.
The service will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Quincy, and interment at Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall from 10:00 to 10:45 am.

Ms. Evelyn was born in Bainbridge, Georgia and grew up in Havana and Quincy. Her family attended Centenary United Methodist Church. She received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Florida State University. She taught seventeen years in the Gadsden County Public School System. Her career extended to Child Welfare Services for the state of Texas. After retiring, she and her family returned to Quincy in 1981.
Ms. Evelyn was active with volunteer work in Quincy and at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She was an avid gardener and loved animals.
Survivors include three daughters, Jean B. Headley (and husband Durwood) of Mobile, Alabama; Nancy B. Connolly (and husband Wylie) of Panama City, Florida; and Suzanne H. Ownbey of Quincy; six grandchildren (James, Patrick, Brandon, Kaitlyn, Lindsey, and Sarah); and three great grandchildren (Bryson, Blakely, and Beckham).
