Obituary for Ethel Sue Turner Burnett
Ethel Sue Turner Burnett was born May 23, 1925, in Latta, SC. She went to live with her Lord and Savior on January 5, 2018. Her parents were Sue Carter Turner and Alfred Lewis Turner. Sue was the youngest of nine children.
Sue married Henry Theron (Buddy) Burnett on July 31, 1943, in Charleston, SC. Buddy was stationed at the Port of Embarkation, and Sue was employed by the Civil Service. Buddy left later that year for overseas duty and participated in five major battles in the European Operation, including D-Day, June 6,1944.
Sue and Buddy later settled in Albany, GA. Their son, Henry Theron (Hank) Burnett and their daughter, Betty Claire Burnett were born there. In 1959, the family moved to Quincy, FL. After Buddy's death, in 1963, Sue went to work for Shaw Insurance, then Pat Thomas Insurance, and later retired from the State of Florida Child Support.
Sue was a loving and devoted mother to Hank and Betty. She worked hard to provide them with all they needed to be successful in life. Her devotion to her Lord and Savior set a wonderful example for her children. She loved the First Baptist Church.
Sue is survived by her children and grandchildren, Hank (Allison) Burnett, Betty (Billy) Suber, Ranie (Jason) Thompson, Phillip (Joanne) Suber, Emily (Brian) Marlton, and Wade (Dawn) Williams. Sue's extra special loves are her great grandchildren, Andrew, Benjamin, William, Ramsey, and Kinley.
Visitation is at the home of Billy and Betty Suber. Friends and family are welcome anytime. There will be a memorial service Sunday, 3:00 pm at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Quincy.
Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, FL.
