Obituary for Elvie Proctor Peddie
On May 28, 2021, Elvie Christine “Girlie” Proctor Peddie, daughter of the late Eldie Edwards and William Samuel Proctor of the Sandridge Community entered her heavenly home. Wife of the late M. E. Peddie, Sr. and mother to the late Cherrie Ann Mims (Al), Martha Faye Edwards and M. E. Peddie, Jr. “Buddy” (Kay).

Elvie was preceded in death by her siblings William Leevie Proctor, Leonard Proctor, Ellie Mollie Proctor-Williams, Charles Lucious Proctor, Luther Arlington Proctor, and Leon Proctor.

Elvie is grandmother to Darrell Cain, Christy Beard (Jerry), Melinda Kay “Sissy” Cupp (Johnny), Amanda Geathers (James), Amy Kathryn McCann, Aliya Christine Peddie, great-grandchildren Michael Beard, Amber Geathers Jones (Daveon), Summer Garity (David), Joey Cupp, Deven Zada Peddie, J.J. Geathers, Riley Kathryn McCann, River Elyse Peddie, Macen James McCann, Dasia Geathers and Darius Geathers.

She wanted to be remembered to special friends Sebastian and Vicki Miguel, Shirley and Jimmy Jones, Jean Therrin and so many more. Her years in the Blountstown Health and Rehabilitation Center won her friends of residents and caregivers alike.

She retired from Florida State Hospital after over 30 years of service. Her home was always welcoming to not only family and friends but to the occasional “angel unaware.”

Her musical talent blessed many community churches, playing piano without ever having had a lesson. Her integrity was proven as treasurer to congregations as she served God as well as touching many lives as a Sunday School teacher and witness in her everyday walk.

It was with great joy she was able to come home to the “Ridge” to spend her last days with family and friends. A special thank you to Covenant Hospice for their kind service.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Assembly of God Church with visitation from 1:00 until service time. Interment will follow at Poley Branch Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, FL., 850-627-7677, is in charge of arrangements.
