Obituary for Edna Henley Beach
Mrs. Edna Henley Beach, 95, of Quincy, Florida passed away Friday, November 23, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Bainbridge, Georgia.
Edna Earl Henley was born December 7, 1922, in Colquitt, Georgia, the daughter of James Arthur Henley and Ever Lee Debarry Henley.
Services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church in Quincy, Florida with the Revs. Jerry Chumley and Greg Kell officiating. Visitation is at 2:00 PM and the service at 3:00 PM.
Edna married Harry Glen Beach December 24, 1944, and was a trustworthy helpmate. She was a resident of Quincy, Florida, since 1950, where she was a lifelong homemaker for her husband and five children.
JOY best described Edna…Jesus, Others, You! She always put others first whether it was her family, whom she loved unconditionally, her friends, or her church. She served others with a caring and loving spirit. Her home always had the “welcome” mat out for anything or anyone, who needed a place to call home. Whether it was a baby squirrel fallen from its’ nest that needed to be bottle fed or a relative looking for a place to rest and a hot meal.
She loved working with her hands, and it showed in her homemade quilts and her flowers with breathtaking results.
Edna loved the Lord and was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. She nurtured her children with the love of Christ and was instrumental in their salvation. She enjoyed singing and listening to ole time gospel music.
She is survived by her sons, Glynn (Linda) Beach and Frankie (Beth) Beach, both of Quincy; her daughters, Shirley (Larry) Wilkinson of Bainbridge, GA., Joyce (Ray) McDaniel, and Tammy (Ben) Duncan of Quincy. She’s also survived by 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and the love of her life--her husband, Harry Glen Beach.
Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, FL., (850)627-7677, is in charge of arrangements.
