It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Elaise Carlton, aged 79, who passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025.
Dorothy (Dottie) was born on December 20, 1945, in Princeton, Florida, to the late George and Willie Belle Carlton. She was the proud mother of three children, Jajuan, Janette (Adam), and Jeffrey (Randie). She was a loving grandmother to four, Jordan, Hannah (Jack), Aubrey (Wesley), Aden, and a great-grandmother to Kit, who all adored her and will cherish the memories of their time together.
A master’s graduate of Nova Southeastern University, Dottie was a dedicated special education teacher for over 30 years and a lifelong advocate for education. Outside of her career, Dottie had a deep love for her horses, UF athletics, fishing, her family, and her church.
Dottie’s legacy of love, wisdom, and service will live on in the countless lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Willie Belle Carlton. She is survived by her sister Sherrie Lynn Murray, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and many dear friends.
Dottie will be missed beyond words, and her love will be carried in our hearts, always
