DORIS NICHOLSON BERT

Doris Nicholson Bert died on August 2, 2024 at the Center for Compassionate Care at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She was born in Quincy on January 28, 1924, the eldest of four children, to James Malcolm and Ann Carraway Nicholson. She graduated from Havana High School in 1941 and from Florida State College for Women in 1945 with a BS degree. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harold Rogers Bert, by her brothers, Paul Nicholson of Quincy and James Nicholson of Dallas, TX, and her sister, Mary Ann Rigby of Pawley’s Island, SC.

She is survived by her five children: Ann Reuter (Cliff) of Lebanon, TN, Jane Sego (James), Nick Bert (Anne), Paul Bert (Betty), all of Havana, Susan Kinkaid (Darrell) of Dahlonega, GA, six grandchildren: Jay Sego (Lori) of Clayton, GA, Dr. Nancy Barrett (Shane) of Lebanon, TN, Jennifer Suber (Russell) of Havana, Gus Bert (Alissa) of Quincy, Elizabeth Kinkaid of Dahlonega, GA, and Daniel Kinkaid (Brenna) of Charlotte, NC. She also leaves behind 14 beloved great-grandchildren.

She was a life-time member of Salem Methodist Church.

Visitation at the Bert home has been cancelled.  The family will visit with friends at the graveside after the service.  The graveside service will be held at the Nicholson-Freeman Cemetery on Saturday, August 10, 2024, 10:00 a.m., with Dayton Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308 or Salem Methodist Church, 202 E. 9th Ave., Havana, FL 32333.

Charles McClellan Funeral Home of Quincy, FL is in charge of arrangements.
