Obituary for Dora Burke Parramore
Dora Burke Parramore died Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at her oldest daughter's home in Carrabelle, Florida. She was 104 Years old. Her two daughters, Velma and Annie Lee, were by her side. She was a Florida native and lived most of her life in Mt. Pleasant, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Parramore and one son Cleveland Parramore, her father Tom Burke and mother Virginia Lee Burke. She is survived by her daughters Velma O'Neal (Tommy Jack) Massey and Annie Lee Josey (William, deceased), both of Carrabelle, Florida, her sons Melvin Parramore (Rochelle, deceased), of Adele, Georgia, Roland (Martha Sue, deceased) of Chattahoochee, Florida, James (Glenna), of Mt. Pleasant, Florida, and John David (Sylvia), of Chattahoochee, Florida. She had 23 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 34 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Donie Steadman, of Palatka, Florida.
She was a Christian and was of the Church of Christ faith. She worked on the family farm and loved cooking big meals for her family and friends. She loved fishing. She would dress, prepare and cook any wild game that her husband and sons brought home, even though she didn't eat wild game.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 23, 2016, at the Old Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time, at the church. Interment will be at Old Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Mt. Pleasant UMC.
