Obituary for Donnie Eugene Humphrey
Donnie Eugene Humphrey (Donnie) 76 of Chattahoochee, Florida passed away October 22, 2021 after a short illness. He was born April 14, 1945 to Bill and Florence Humphrey.
While attending Florida State University, Donnie also worked in the recreation department for Florida Department of Corrections. He served various roles with DOC, eventually retiring as Warden of River Junction Correctional Institution.
Donnie was very devout in his Faith and served his Lord first.
He loved his local community and enjoyed sharing stories with others. Known as "Big Red" by many, he was a true outdoorsman with a love for hunting and fishing. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed. Among his greatest enjoyments were the River Junction Hunting Club and the Apalachicola River.
Donnie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Aileen Kingry Humphrey; daughter, Lori Scott (Ron); son, Donald Humphrey; grandson, Seth Scott; brother Joe Humphrey (Diane); sister Anne Humphrey; brother in law, Jimmy Kingry (Loretta); sister in law Nancy Humphrey and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Florence Humphrey; brothers Richard Humphrey and Bill Humphrey.
A graveside memorial service is scheduled for November 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Chattahoochee. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to charity of choice.
