Obituary for Donn James
Donn James, 89, went to his heavenly home on September 29, 2018, after a brief illness. A popular figure in Quincy, Fl, Donn will be remembered by many in the community as a coach, driver's ed instructor, and teacher. His hobbies included golfing, creating his own golf clubs, putting ketchup on everything he ate, and daily trips to Winn Dixie
Donn was born on June 25, 1929, in Shamokin, PA. He met the love of his life, Nettie Sue Woodham, at Bob Jones University and were soon married. They were married for 68 years.
Donn was an example of strong faith and character, never missing an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus with those he met. He also valued the role of education, earning degrees from Bob Jones University, the Philadelphia Bible Institute, Florida State University, and Florida A&M University.
He is survived by his loving wife and sons, Bill (Margie) and Jimmy, his grandsons, Roy (Janice) and Brett, and his great grandchildren, Addison, JP, and Eli.
The service will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church Chapel in Quincy, where Donn faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher and former deacon. His family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time.
