Obituary for David Eugene Jackson
David Eugene Jackson, 68 of Carrabelle, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 1, 2021 surrounded by his family at his home. He was born on November 14, 1952 in Apalachicola, Florida to George and Virginia Viola Butler Jackson. On June 24, 1978, he married the love of his life, Janice O’Neal and they enjoyed 43 years of marital bliss. He loved Franklin County and was a lifelong resident. He was so proud of his family.
David is survived by his wife, Janice; his daughters, Laura Miller (John) and their children, Tinsley and Hoyt Miller; Jenna Jackson and her daughters, Jada Allen, Jerzy Jackson and Swayzee Lane; his father, George Jackson; brother, Ronnie Jackson (Reba); sisters, Phyllis Cook and Yvonne Howell (Winston). He is also survived by an abundance of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Jackson and his beloved dog, “Moonlight Cammie Jackson.”
David enjoyed serving as a deputy under Sheriff Jack Taylor in the 1970s and working with his father and brother at the Jackson’s Standard Oil Station and Parts House. He was later employed at the ACE Hardware. He was a graduate of the Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy. He was also a graduate of the Panama City Branch of Lively Technical where he became a master mechanic. He honed his mechanical skill with his love of drag racing. David was a member of the Curfew Lodge, F&AM #73 of Carrabelle and he was a member of the HADJI Shrine Temple of Panama City, Florida where he served as the Potentate Sir Illustrious. He enjoyed his involvement in many local political campaigns.
Service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Carrabelle Christian Center. Family will receive friends at the center from10 AM until service time. Curfew Lodge#73 of Carrabelle will do the graveside rites at the center following the service.
