Obituary for Clyde Edward Gainey
Clyde Edward Gainey, 86, (M/SGT RET USAF), of Bristol, Florida, passed away December 11, 2020 at his home after an extended illness. He was born April 5, 1934 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, and graduated from Liberty County High School. After high school, he spent 20 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sargeant. He later worked as a Mechanical Engineering instructor with the Department of Corrections at the Liberty Correctional Institution. He was a very avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors very much. Clyde was a real people person, always being very honest with you.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Linda Swann Doran Gainey, his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Jo Stephens Gainey, step-daughters, Lisa (Bruce) Smith, Stephanie Doran and her companion, Frank Causey, and Beth (Aaron) Wood, a sister, Doris Walden, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine, son, Russell, and parents, Buster and Ruth Walden Gainey.
Family will receive friends Monday, December 14, 2020, at 1:00 PM EST until 2:00 PM EST at the graveside at Meacham Cemetery, Hoecake Road, Bristol, FL. The service will begin at 2:00 PM EST.
Reverend Terry Blackburn will officiate. Everyone is asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, Florida, is in charge of arrangements.
