Charlotte Dickenson Harvey, age 100, of Quincy, FL, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Riverchase Health & Rehab Center in Quincy, FL. Charlotte was born on Oct. 8, 1922 to Charles and Jennie Betts Dickenson in Decatur County, GA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Harvey; a son, Johnny Harvey; sisters, Frances Spillers, CoraNell Moreau, Bennie Cox, and Margaret Lamb; and a brother, William Dickenson.
A lifelong resident of Quincy, FL, Charlotte went on to graduate high school from Quincy, FL and obtained her college degree from Jacksonville, FL. She married John W. Harvey in 1947 and they had 4 children. Charlotte worked for Crouch’s Drugs in Quincy, FL for almost 40 years before retiring in 1985. Charlotte was very active in her churches, Hopewell Methodist Church and Franklin Baptist Church for a number of years. She loved gardening, cooking, and caring for others. She also enjoyed some travels across the country with her sisters and cousins.
She is survived by her children, James (Rita) Harvey of Hosford, FL, Mark (Suzanne) Harvey of Tallahassee, FL, and Frances (Ron) Kelly of Attapulgus, GA; a brother, Victor (Marion) Dickenson of Ochlocknee, GA; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Riverchase Health & Rehab Center for their exceptional care of Charlotte during her time there. The support and sympathy shown comforted and assured the family that she received the best care available.
Visitation will be Friday, July 28, 2023 at 10am with a Memorial Service to follow at 11am at Hopewell Methodist Church in Bettstown, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital c/o Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or via online at stjude.org.
