Obituary for Betty Jane Betz
Betty J. Betz, of the Ft. Braden Community, Tallahassee, FL passed away on December 17, 2020. Betty was born in Johnson City, NY, but lived throughout the east coast of the United States traveling from base to base with her military husband and family. She lived in Tallahassee for the past 18 years.
Betty was a homemaker and stayed at home with their three children during her husband’s military career. She took care of the home front and the children for months at a time when her husband was at sea or other military assignments. She helped pack up the belongings and move up and down the east coast of the US, from Rhode Island to Cuba as the job required. She was dedicated to her husband and family.
After retirement, she enjoyed traveling the U.S. with her husband in their 5th Wheel and later a mini motorhome. They traveled and stayed in almost every state in the union. This was a happy time and brought much joy to her.
After moving from Jacksonville to Tallahassee, she so enjoyed the community and the many friends she made here. Her Red Hat sisters of the Tallahassee Lassies were a fun and enjoyable group of ladies and the activities and beach time always brought smiles to her face. She also made a habit of attending exercise class, senior lunches and bingo at the Ft. Braden Community Center.
She is survived and loved by her husband of almost 73 years, Dale S Betz, Ft. Braden; daughter, Judy Housel of Titusville, FL; son John (Debbie) Betz of Jacksonville, FL and daughter Anice (Dan) Prosser of Ft. Braden; four grandsons; six great grandchildren; Sister-in-law, Beverly Elksnis of Jacksonville, FL and Brother-in-law Keith Jennison of Marathon, NY; numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID, funeral services will be held at the Tallahassee National Cemetery in a private service for her family.
The family has requested no flowers be sent. Instead, please consider a memorial contribution to Honor Flight Tallahassee, P.O. Box 12033, Tallahassee, FL 32317 (Online using a secure server, visit Piryx.com) or a charity of your choice.
