Obituary for Bernice Rowan Kever
In Loving Memory
Bernice Rowan Kever passed away peacefully November 3, 2021. She was born July 24, 1931, in Gadsden County, Florida. She was the daughter of Meadie Elvin Rowan and Louise Edwards Rowan Richards. Her stepfather was Rev. W.B. Richards. She was married for 48 years to Ernest Kever, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Some of her children’s fondest memories of her were that she was a loving, caring mother with a sweet spirit and was always whistling. She always had her children delicious snacks such as homemade pear tarts, homemade pies, and various other treats. She was a good southern cook always making special holiday meals. She loved the outdoors, especially gardening and growing beautiful flowers in her yard. She also loved spending time on her front porch watching the birds feed and visiting with family and friends. She was very creative; her hobbies included sewing, reading, keeping journals, and going to yard sales with her sister, Juanita Kever (They were married to brothers). Bernice was an exceptionally smart woman. She helped her husband with his businesses which included farming, Kever Springs, Kever Construction Company, and a very successful real estate business which she built. In her spare time, she loved to go fishing at Aspalaga Landing and Telogia Creek and then have cookouts. Bernice was an active member of Providence Baptist Church where she was instrumental in raising the funds and choosing the beautiful stained-glass windows. She was also involved in various other committees in the church.
She is survived by her children Terry Kever (Janet), Brenda Kever Ard (Marty), Rex Kever (Renea), and Rhonda Kever Mercer (Chuck).
Her grandchildren are Nathan Kever (Renee), Brian Kever (Julie), Tammy Brockmeier (Chris), Jason Mercer (Kelli), Justin Mercer (Ashley), Ashley Mercer, Nicole Kever (Ed), Michelle Kendrick (Joey), Laura Fierro (Jonathon), Heather Shepard (Tony).
Great grandchildren are Elizabeth Kever, Jacob Kever, Everett Kever, Emily Brockmeier, John Martin Brockmeier, William Brockmeier, James Brockmeier, Cora Mercer, Shahla Kospia, Jake Farmer, Dawson Farmer, Gracie Fierro, Kelsie Dozier, Tyler Dozier, Ethan Kendrick, Addie & Ellie Kendrick.
