Obituary for Bauchie Summers
Bauchie Summers, age 93, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2021 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by the love of his family at his favorite place, his home in Bristol, FL. He was born to Bauch and Priscilla Summers on Nov. 3, 1927. He was a member of First Christian Church in Bristol. He Joined the Navy at the ripe old age of 17, serving in the South Pacific during World War Two. After the war ended, Bauchie returned home and attended the University of Florida. He has always been an avid Gator fan. In his younger days he attended every game the Gators played, no matter where they played.

Bauchie moved his family to Orlando in the 1960s after he was promoted to Supervisor over a natural gas plant and then several years later he transferred to the plant in Perry. After 30 years with the company, he took an early retirement and moved back to his beloved Liberty County which he always referred to as “God’s Country”. He was excited to get back in the Liberty County woods to hunt and fish, not even cancer or two heart attacks could hold him back!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bauch and Priscilla Summers, five brothers, Vern Summers, Wayne Summers, Jack Summers, Don Summers, and Glenn Summers, and one sister, Floy Chestang.

Bauchie is survived by his wife of 68 years, Yvonne Carson Summers, two daughters, Sally Lago (Steve) of Perry, Teresa Moon (Jay) of Bristol, and one son Jake Summers (Vanell) of Bristol; 8 grandchildren, Jason Lago (Karen) of Bristol, Missy Gray of Perry, Brian Moon (Nicole) of Tallahassee, Jared Summers (Jessica) of Coral Springs, Ryan Lago (Keely) of Perry, Jeremy Summers (Keri) of Bristol, Jordy Moon (Hannah) of Bristol, and Joe Summers of Tallahassee. He also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Eloise Summers of Tallahassee, and Myrlene Carson of Bristol, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at the Summers Family Cemetery Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, FL., 850-627-7677, is in charge of arrangements.
